Improving the working conditions and professional development of teachers and educators in the public education sector.

Fostering Labour Peace in Education

The Education Labour Relations Council (ELRC) is a bargaining council that serves the public education sector in South Africa.

Our primary function is to promote labour peace through dispute resolution and prevention services. We also facilitate negotiations between trade unions and the state as the employer.

Conciliation, arbitration, and mediation to help resolve conflicts in the public education sector.

Responsible for addressing issues specific to each province and ensuring that labour peace is maintained throughout the country.

The ELRC plays a crucial role in developing and implementing collective agreements that address various issues affecting educators and the education system.

We operate within the framework of South African labour laws and regulations to facilitate collective bargaining and dispute resolution in the public education sector.
