World Teachers’ Day – Celebrating our teachers
World Teachers’ Day is celebrated the world over on 5th October to honour and appreciate teachers for their valuable contribution to societal growth and transformation.
The theme of World Teachers’ Day 2022 is: “The transformation of education begins with teachers”. The United Nations, Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) presented this theme in respect of the determined and diligent efforts of teachers in the crucial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the world is progressing rapidly, the mode of education has changed from conventional teaching to technical, skillful, professional and virtual education. UNESCO recommended this theme to honour the efforts made by teachers during the pandemic.
Over the past two years, education required radical interventions to ensure that learning and teaching continued, despite the unforeseen challenges that the world was confronted with. The imperceptible warriors who ensured that education was not lost, were our teachers.
The strides made in education during these tumultuous times, could not have been possible without the innate dedication and perseverance of our educators.
We celebrate these unsung heroes and thank them for their dedication to their vocation.
We salute all teachers today; may you remember on this day and every day throughout the year that you are valued and your contribution to society transcends the classroom. More than monetary reward, your legacy is firmly entrenched in the hearts of educated professionals who go on to change the course of history.
Thank you for your tireless efforts that does not go unnoticed.
The work of the Council seeks to ensure the wellbeing of teachers and in turn improve the quality of education in public schools. We therefore remain passionate about celebrating teachers and their immeasurable contribution to society.
