The Council congratulates the class of 2025 on the national pass rate of 88%, which is an improvement of 0.74%, compared to the 2024 results. This marks the highest pass rate in our country’s history and is truly worthy of celebration.
We commend the Department of Basic Education for maintaining a high level of stability in the system, as well as ensuring inclusion and access, despite the numerous challenges faced over the years.
The Department is also applauded for the notable improvement in provincial results, with all provinces surpassing the 80% mark. Special recognition is given to KwaZulu-Natal for achieving a 90.6% pass rate against all odds, making it the best-performing province, a truly remarkable feat for our country.
The teacher unions, together with their members, the teachers of our nation are praised for the instrumental role that they play in ensuring quality learning and teaching in our classrooms and the impressive national results for 2025.
“… may this strand of distinction precipitate the start of a lifelong journey of achievement,
Inspired by the heartfelt yearning of patrons for a brighter, educated nation.”
To the Class of 2025, may the commitment and perseverance you demonstrated throughout your 13 years of foundation, primary, and secondary schooling continue to guide you as you pursue excellence in your professional lives.
We wish you well.
